Patellar luxation is a condition in which the Knee cap (Patella) moves out of its normal location. This condition can occur as a result of injury or congenital malformation or a congenital hereditary defect.
If it is a result of a congential condition then it usually affects both hind legs causing the cat to limp or adopt a “bunny hop” movement.
Surgery may be required to correct this and to help prevent further conditions from developing as a result, such as osteoarthritis .
